Locust Grove - Poughkeepsie, NY
Truly remarkable, this vintage 19th century home provides an unforgettable place ofor your memorable day. Located on the spectacular Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, Locust Grove is a romantic venue, open year round, which provides the perfect setting for weddings, anniversaries, birthday celebrations and so much more. This sublime countryside estate is stated beautifully on the rolling riverbanks of the Hudson River, in the Hudson Valley.
For more than two centuries, Locust Grove has been one of New York’s finest historical landmarks. Sprawling over 100 acres of land, the estate was farmed by the Livingston family and formed the contingent property acquired by Samuel F.B. Morse in 1847. It was Morse who spent more than 25 years shaping Locust Grover into the aesthetically appealing summer retreat that it is recognized for today. However, when Poughkeepsie’s prominent Young family purchased the property in 1895 they brought with them a new vision. Purchasing adjoining lane, they added romantic gardens and carriage rides along the scenic Hudson River. Today, the well preserved historical estate is the perfect venue for the wedding of your dreams.
The Wes Gallery is a quintessential place for any dream event. Featuring cathedral ceiling, French doors, prism skylights and bluestone terraces, this venue exudes character. An elegant place, the historically characteristic herringbone-patterned oak floor can accommodate 150 guests for a magical night filled with dinner and dancing. The adjacent Reese Gallery and West Lawn are also one-of-a-kind spaces for a cocktail hour or ceremony. In addition to the quaint character and historically pleasing atmosphere that Locust Grove provides, you can rest assured that all the modern amenities of convenience will be provided. Featuring a caterer’s kitchen, bridal lounge, air conditioning and easy parking, Locust Grove truly is an all0encompassing and amazing venue.
This historic site’s stately trees, rolling hills and picturesque views boast a beautiful and natural garden landscape. Greatly influenced by romantic 19th century landscapes, Morse found these picturesque frame views to be sublime and breathtaking. The Victorian style gardens and urns of the Main Perennial Garden provide a beautiful backdrop to your special day. Picture you and your significant other holding hands and strolling through the garden for the first time as a newly married couple. The self-guided tour maps can be used by guests to troll casually through the gardens during cocktail hour, after a rehearsal dinner or the morning after a spectacular wedding with family and friends.
